The Economic
Development Department has been hard at work exploring ways to boost our
rural economy. Our goal is to ensure that Seymour fully focuses on the
future and remains an “Open for Business” community.
John W. Studer serves as the Department head of the Economic Development
Department and executive director of the Seymour Community Development
Corporation (SCDC). He is also a former member of the Seymour City Council.
He is a life long resident of Seymour/Baylor County. He has a bachelor’s
degree in business administration with minors in accounting and economics,
along with a passion for helping our rural community.
John has been extremely busy with a variety of projects lately. He has
held and attended meetings on Renewable Energy, which is becoming wide
spread through out the nation. Grants are being pursued for the restoration
of the Auditorium, as well as the Antique lighting, and sidewalk construction.
The City Pride signage is also a project that has been approved and is
waiting on available funding. This will be the first City Pride sign in
the Wichita Falls TXDOT district. John has also been conversing with several
large Assisted Living facilities about locating a satellite facility here
in Seymour. The new highway project is also bringing a lot of business
interest to our community. John has been speaking with several business
owners that are considering the idea of placing a business out by the
new highway. We are very pleased with the progress of these projects and
are continuing to stay committed to our community.
The Economic Development Department would like to take time to thank the
many helping hands in the community. John is always willing to explore
new ideas and obtain input from the citizens of our City. If you represent
