Whereas, the City of Seymour is proud of the family-oriented nature
of our community and wishes to support its families in raising their children
in a safe and nurturing environment; and
Whereas, preventing child abuse and child neglect is an undertaking
which depends heavily on the involvement of people throughout the community;

stressful situations, without adequate support mechanisms, and without
the ability to cope; and
Whereas, child abuse and neglect can be reduced by making sure families
have the support they need to raise their children in a healthy environment;
and
Whereas, effective child abuse prevention programs succeed because
of partnerships created among social service agencies, schools, faith communities,
civic organizations, law enforcement agencies, local businesses, and caring
community members;
Now therefore I, Dan Craighead, Mayor of Seymour, do hereby proclaim
April 2008, as Child Abuse Prevention Month in the City of Seymour, and
call upon all citizens, community agencies, faith groups, health professionals,

opportunity
for all Americans to recognize that complete success in
the goal of equal housing opportunity can only be accomplished with the
help and cooperation of all Americans.
