City & Local Attractions
The Seymour City Park has facilities for a complete family gathering or outing. The Portwood Pavilion is adjacent to the park area with picnic tables, a meeting room with a kitchen and bathrooms are also available. The park has playground equipment as well as three covered pavilions. In addition to the park facilities, a public swimming pool is located across the street with a manager and lifeguards on duty. The pool operates June through August. Private outings can be arranged. One of the most challenging Disc Golf courses in this area is located in the Seymour City Park. A one mile walking track is also present in the park.

Seymour also has an excellent municipal owned nine-hole golf course located 2 miles south from downtown on Highway 187/287 toward Throckmorton. Salt Fork River Estates also has a tennis court and swimming pool. Meeting rooms and a kitchen area are also available for rent. Cart rentals and a Golf Pro Shop is located in the club house. Fishing is also available to the public.

The Cliff Styles Center, located on Hwy 422 to Archer City, has a conference/activity capacity of 300-600. It has a kitchen; large conference room; a small meeting room; and a separate 100’ x 200’ arena. The Center is managed by the Baylor County Junior Livestock Association. This is a superior quality facility and is used for both local and district shows.

The world famous MAY 1st FISH DAY is held annually. The holiday originated in 1927 when May was the official beginning of the fishing season. After a long winter, the farmers and townspeople all closed their businesses and went fishing on May 1st. This continues to be a town holiday as the tradition continues into the 21st century.

The oldest Cowboy Reunion, the Old Settlers’ Reunion and Rodeo, began in 1896 as a cowboy reunion. It is held the second weekend in July each year. Seymour rodeo grounds also host many area events. Seymour also offers the Baylor County Horse Club and Bass Fishing Club.

The Baylor County Free Library
is located in the Baylor County Courthouse in Seymour. The library has a large selection of books and public access computers with internet connections.

The Baylor County Museum is located in Seymour with history and memorabilia from the first settlers of Baylor County to those citizens of Baylor County who have served our nation in the armed forces during various military campaigns.

Autumn Leaves Festival - This attraction takes place yearly with booths, food and crafts.

Seymour Speedway - 1/10 mile dirt track - go-kart and lawnmover racing from April to October.

Baylor County is your premier hunting and fishing location. It is also the destination for bird watching and wild flower viewing.

Lake Kemp is located 11 miles north of Seymour. It has public access boat ramps and fishing.

Miller Creek Reservoir is located 20 miles south. It also has public access boat ramps and fishing.

Seymour will be part of the Texas Parks & Wildlife Prairie & Piney Woods Wildlife Viewing Trail.

In Wichita Falls, Texas, located 50 miles northeast of Seymour, the Hotter ‘n Hell Bicycle Race is held each August.

There is also Castaway Cove Water Park in Wichita Falls.

Sheppard Air Force Base is also located in Wichita Falls.
